Josie Sohn
I am a second year graduate student in East Asian Languages and Cultures. I received my undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature and East Asian Languages at the University of California at Los Angeles. I am currently finishing my masters program with an interdisciplinary focus on modern Korean literatures and cultural studies. My interest in translations and translingual practices of contemporary South Korea for my ongoing Ph.D. studies comes from my personal experiences with diverse cross-cultural and language education that I have had as a diasporic Asian American. I tentatively plan to examine the ways in which South Korean Christian publishing industries operate and how the readership of translated works of non-theological literatures is formed and practiced.
