I am a doctoral student in anthropology. As a linguistic anthropology student, I am interested in how people linguistically and non-linguistically articulate their individual and collective memory using various social “voice” forms encountered. My current research project is focused on the process through which Korean historical diaspora people in Kazakhstan, “relocated” from the far-eastern part of the Soviet Union in the 1930s, semiotize their ethnic history(ies) in various modes of social interactions, including their theatrical, museological, and everyday practices.
